Why do we get freckles?

Hello, I think it's due to a pigment called melanin, which can appear after exposure to the sun and cause these little brown spots. I've had them since I was a little girl, and I think they're really cute. It's become very fashionable for some people to use make-up to cover them up. I think you can even use semi-permanent make-up to get them.
